Anthropic reports malicious uses of Claude
New evidence about the misuse of deployed AI systems.

What the report covers
Politico's coverage describes Anthropic's findings across cyberattacks, surveillance, weapons development and influence operations. The report adds evidence about misuse of deployed systems; its publication is distinct from the incidents described in it. Publication is not a separate incident, and media coverage is not independent forensic verification. Politico / John Sakellariadis ↗
In an accompanying interview, Anthropic's threat-research head Jacob Klein told Politico that none of the reported cases involved Mythos. This separates the new report from the Mythos evaluation incident already recorded here. Politico / John Sakellariadis ↗
Findings and limits
Politico also emphasizes two consequential limits: the biological cases did not establish whether the research was legitimate, and most reported influence content attracted little genuine engagement. Potentially dangerous research, attempted attacks and demonstrated damage are different outcomes. Politico / John Sakellariadis ↗
