Meta releases Llama 3.1

Meta released Llama 3.1 with downloadable 405B flagship weights and updated smaller models. It described the flagship as competitive with leading hosted models and allowed its outputs to improve other models under the Llama licence. Meta 

The preceding Llama 3 launch on April 18, 2024 had introduced the smaller 8B and 70B models. The July release added the larger flagship rather than being the first appearance of Llama 3. Meta
