Trump and AI industry leaders announce voluntary safety accord

What the companies committed to

The commitment sets out four layers. Companies would monitor model capabilities and alignment during training and deployment, including cyber, biological and chemical risks and unintended access to technical systems. An empowered internal team would check that these safeguards work and that problems are fixed. An independent external auditor or evaluator would assess the controls, while an independent board committee would oversee reports and remediation. Donald J. Trump 

Participating companies also commit to regular meetings on standards and best practices. The document leaves possible legislation or regulation for later. It sets no implementation deadlines, public-reporting requirement, penalties or government power to approve or block a model’s release.
